The Diamir Vipec 12 binding is delivered with a black clip on the Easy Switch Toe and one on the Comfort Lever 2 (see illustration). Color Clips are available as accessories in five additional attractive colors to make your binding look the way you want.
All it takes is two clicks to attach the Diamir Traxion crampon to the front housing. With the rotatable adapter the space between the blade and the bottom of the boot can be perceptibly reduced at every walk mode level to adjust the penetration depth according to individual and specific needs and allowing a deep bite at all three walk mode levels. Clearly a significant benefit in terms of safety and comfort – and what’s more: individually adjustable.
Step-in / step-out made very easy with Easy Switch Toe and Easy Switch Heel.
To step in, set the Easy Switch Toe to the STEP IN position and the Easy Switch Heel to the SKI position.
Simply move the tip of the boot forward over the step-in bracket in the toe unit and engage the toe pin units.
The Easy Switch Toe is automatically set to the downhill position.
With a ski pole, the Easy Switch Toe can be conveniently set to the step-in position (bottom).The toe pin units will open and release the boot.

Due to the difference in the width of the front pin inserts and the height of the bottom of the boots, other pin systems either close too tightly or not tightly enough.
Another small, but very important technical detail: The SAFETY PIN SYSTEM always closes completely when in use.

With a ski pole, the Easy Switch Toe and the Easy Switch Heel it is very easy to switch between downhill and uphill mode.
The SAFETY PIN TECH allows pin bindings to do what used to be reserved for bindings with jaw system: releasing in uphill mode.
In older pin bindings without release in uphill mode the toe unit is blocked while climbing to secure and laterally stabilize the tip of the boot. In addition, the system especially ensures that the pin levers will not inadvertently open as a result of lateral forces acting on the boot.
In the SAFETY PIN TECH, on the other hand, the toe pin units secure the tip of the boot without being blocked in uphill mode and will only release if necessary.
Additionally, the torsional forces acting on the tip of the boot are compensated by a special mechanism, providing the boot with optimum lateral stability for a secure footing.
The system can be set to the uphill mode in two easy steps.
With the Easy Switch Toe in the WALK position, the tip of the boot is additionally stabilized laterally in the toe unit.
With the Easy Switch Heel in the WALK position the heel is released to allow walking.
It doesn’t get any easier. Lift the boot slightly above the heel pins, set the Easy Switch Heel to the SKI position and engage the boot with the heel insert via the heel pins. Then set the Easy Switch Toe to the SKI position.
Adapting the walk mode to the slope angle is a breeze. The three optimally synchronized walk mode levels can be set in no time.
The walk mode levels can be changed at any time and very easily with a ski pole.
Similar to modern release systems of alpine bindings, the lateral release in the toe unit occurs in two phases.
In a first phase, the carriage with the toe pin unit slides laterally. In a second phase, the respective toe pin unit swivels out laterally to release the boot.
After the release, the toe pin unit can easily be reset by hand to its original position.
Similar to the Diamir SAFETY ALUBAR SYSTEM the SAFETY PIN SYSTEM also includes a dynamic range. The boot is not released until the dynamic range of 11 mm and the preset restoring force have been exceeded. As a result, the binding will only release when absolutely necessary.
This is an important safety feature, especially in uneven terrain.
The frontal safety release is triggered by the lateral swiveling of the heel pin units located in the heel housing. After exceeding a dynamic range of 4 mm and the preset restoring force, the heel pin units slide over the restraining wedges of the heel insert in the boot to release it.
The boot is then tilted forward via the front pins, pushing the Easy Switch Toe downward. This will also open the front of the system and release the boot.
To ensure a defined release by the release mechanisms in any skiing situation, the contact pressure of the boot must remain constant at all times.
In the SAFETY PIN SYSTEM, a consistent contact pressure is ensured, even when the ski is significantly bent, by the active length compensation through the sliding back and forth of the heel unit on a guiding plate.
Conventional pin bindings are not provided with length compensation within the binding system. Instead, when the binding is mounted and adjusted to the length of the boot, a small gap is provided between the gripping edge of the boot and the heel part of the binding. This is why the boot is jammed between toe and heel parts when the ski is significantly bent and as a result, a defined release is made impossible.
Similar to Alpine bindings, the lateral release in the front and the frontal release in the back of the Safety Pin System have separate mechanisms and function independently. With this technical exclusivity of the pin systems it is possible to ensure optimal traction, especially in the heel area, which is so important for power transmission.
In the Safety Pin System, the power in the heel area is not only transmitted via the narrow pin support holding the boot. It is additionally transmitted via a solid step plate supporting the heel. The plate in turn is connected directly with the stable heel housing, which transmits the power along the full length to a torsion-resistant guide plate screwed directly to the ski.
In the systems with lateral release integrated into the heel unit, the movements of the heel unit, which is designed to rotate for lateral release, cause a loss in stability. Furthermore, the heel cannot be fully supported by a stable step plate because the additionally generated friction would adversely impact the lateral release.
The system is extensively supported by an optimal arrangement of the mounting screws holding the torsion-resistant front housing. There is no pin binding with better support via the front mounting points than the Diamir Vipec 12.
With the automatic heel system gliding back and forth on a guiding plate, the active length compensation of the SAFETY PIN SYSTEM ensures the best possible natural flex of the ski and thus always achieves a perfect grip across the entire length of the edge.

The Diamir Vipec 12 bindings are equipped with an exclusive defined lateral release in the front unit. The active release system holds the boot in place, similar to Alpine bindings. Unlike the systems that only clamp the boot in, the Diamir Vipec 12 is adjustable to different types of ski boots with precision and custom-fit. As a result, customers are not limited in their choice of ski boots.
The Diamir Vipec 12 that was introduced in early January 2014 is adjusted to the ski boot by means of an adjustable pin. If the pin was not properly fastened during the adjustment process, it was able to loosen while going uphill. As a quick response to the first of such cases, the binding was pre-set at the factory to fit most ski boots and to ensure that the adjustable pin is properly fastened. The retailers were informed and appropriately instructed even before the end of January 2014. A retailer should be contacted for any questions that may arise.
Model 2014/15 is also delivered with a presetting of the distance between the front-pins and a new Color Clip “M” fitting most ski boots. The optimized front pin unit simplifies the adjustment of the system and the laterally integrated centering jaws increase the comfort level.
